DISTRICT | Partnerships

Partnerships are the backbone of DISTRICT Roasters.  We rely on them to source product and to complete source-based projects. We have three types of partners:
  1. Source Partners:  Those that assist DISTRICT in obtaining the highest quality, organic, fair and/or direct trade coffee products available. They adhere to the highest standards in terms of coffee quality, labor and wage practices, reinvestment into farmer education and yield improvements.
  2. Project Partners: Organizations or individuals that work with us to identify, qualify, and complete source-based economic, health, job creation, community development, and DISTRICT reinvestments.
  3. Our Customers: You.  Our valued customers that purchase our product, go with us on development projects, or simply wish to make a difference in the world

LONG MILES COFFEE PROJECT Long Miles Coffee Project was founded by Ben and Kristy Carlson. It is a family endeavor to grow and produce micro-lots of coffee in Burundi, East Africa. Long Miles Coffee Project connects coffee farming families with roasters who believe that exceptional coffee includes traceability and sustainability They facilitate direct and meaningful relationships between coffee roasters and growers by producing great coffee and telling the story of the farmers. LMCP works with over 1400 farmers in 26 collines (coffee hills) as well as various coffee cooperatives. Learn more by visiting: longmilescoffeeproject.com.

DISTRICT Roasters has visited the LMCP in Burundi.  Two of our representatives met with Ben Carlson and his crew and toured the Bukeye wash station. In this visit, to put it bluntly, our hearts were broken.  Broken to see the poverty and despair of a district within the poorest nation in Africa. In sharp relief to the poverty and hopelessness stood out LMCP, the Carlson’s, and their operation.  Providing hope to the farmers and community through premium wages, farmer improvement, involvement in the local community, and partnership with community development efforts within 2miles (3.2km) of the wash station. We knew this was a partnership made in heaven.  This was a perfect opportunity to direct source some of the best, handpicked, hand sorted, and lovingly dried, bagged, and shipped coffee available.  A perfect opportunity to align shared values to accelerate the impact that LMCP can have in the Bukeye and Heza districts. Now you can join DISTRICT and LMCP to make a substantial difference in the people and community.

Our partnership with LMCP is important to us, to them, to the Bukeye area, and to you. Become a part of the solution.  Become a partner in making a difference – simply by enjoying one of the best cups of coffee you’ll have this year!  Direct from Burundi and directly investing in Burundi.

Amahoro is dedicated to the uplift of Burundian women through the creation of a safe, clean, efficient, and productive environment to learn a craft that can support their families.

Started in 2004, Amahoro works with women to source local fabrics, create their own designs, and sew soft good products that directly benefit the women who sew the product. DISTRICT personnel visited the Amahoro project in the summer of 2014, getting a vision for seeing women lifted up from poverty, abuse, disease, and hopelessness by seeing transformation in those we met.

DISTRICT is pleased to present, on a limited and time-to-time basis, some of the soft goods created by the women in Bujumbura, Burundi.  Know that when you purchase an Amahoro product from DISTRICT a substantial portion of that product price goes directly back to the individual woman that created and sewed the product.

Amahoro and DISTRICT.  Partners in integrity, individual uplift, and community development by working together to bring spiritual, physical, and economic freedom to those that need it most.
