The Tarrazú region has a storied history of raising some of the world’s most coveted coffee beans. Generations of farmers dedicated to their crafts have grown coffee on small plantations in valleys and on mountainsides. At the height of harvest season the beans are hand-picked and dried under the warm Costa Rican sun.

The coffee we have the pleasure of roasting for you comes from a cooperative of small-holder farms throughout the Tarrazú and Leon Cortes regions. The cooperative holds values that align well with the vision and mission of DISTRICT, namely, promoting sustainability, protecting and improving the environment, continually seeking to improve the quality of coffee season over season, and ensuring members are compensated accordingly for their work so as to improve the well being of the farmers and their families.

As an interesting side note, we have found that this coffee has well above-average levels of caffeine in the cup. So if you need an extra kick in the morning—give Costa Rica a try!

What We Taste: Oatmeal cookie, chocolate, hazelnut, balanced and sweet.
