This washed process coffee from the Bukeye washing station has continued to surprise us in all brewing methods! However, espresso tends to be the one folks remark the most about. Very forgiving on extraction and always provides a delicious and unique cup!Without doubt a savory coffee, just in time for the cooler weather (at least here in Houston) this is a go-to for the holiday season!
Coffees from Burundi have always been difficult for us to describe in the "normal" coffee terms. They have a very special savoriness to them that just simply does not exist anywhere else. Regardless of your brewing method, a coffee from Burundi is definitely worth trying at least once!
In celebration of the 10 year anniversary of DISTRICT, we have brought in some of the coffees that were part of the origin story! The Long Miles Coffee Project was the first direct trade relationship we formed, back in the year of 2014. We have been missing coffees for Burundi for some time now, and are grateful to have them back!
Burundi is among one of the hardest regions to produce coffee in, yet the coffee that is produced there is among some of the most unique on earth. Long Miles Coffee Project has worked tirelessly since their inception in 2014 to coordinate with the many local farmers that are needed to produce the special micro-lot coffees that they offer. Through their "Coffee Scout" program they are able to provide education and resources to the local farmers—many of whom have very small plantations scattered across a broad terrain— in order to help them maximize quality and thereby be able to achieve the highest price for their hard work.
We're happy to present this coffee purchased with full transparency from the Long Miles Coffee Project with the logistical assistance of Osito coffee.
